Professor Wei Wang is a leading academic in Public Health and Glycomics at Edith Cowan University (ECU), holding a Chair in the School of Medical and Health Sciences. He leads the Suboptimal Health and Glycomics research group within ECU's Centre for Precision Health, a strategic research center focused on predictive, preventive, and personalized medicine. With nearly 30 years of expertise, Prof. Wang's career spans roles including Dean of Capital University of Medical Sciences (China) and adjunct professorships at institutions worldwide.
His research integrates glycomics, global health, and medical genetics, with a focus on suboptimal health status (SHS), chronic disease biomarkers, and translational medicine. Prof. Wang has authored over 150 peer-reviewed articles, co-edited multiple books on glycomics and PPP medicine, and serves on editorial boards for journals like PLOS ONE and EPMA Journal.
Key achievements include developing SHS assessment tools, identifying IgG glycan biomarkers for diabetes and dementia, and leading multinational trials like PRODEMOS (mHealth dementia prevention). Awards include the EPMA International Networking Award and Fok Ying-Tung Prize. His work bridges basic science and clinical applications, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to global health challenges.
