Waqar Ahmed

Waqar Ahmed is a Research Fellow in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Manchester, leading biomarker discovery at the Manchester Breathomics Group. His research develops metabolomic approaches using volatile organic compounds to diagnose and monitor respiratory conditions including asthma and pulmonary fibrosis.

Research focuses on breath-based diagnostics, microbial volatiles in infections, and circadian variations in biomarkers. Ahmed's work advances precision approaches for respiratory disease management through non-invasive monitoring technologies.

Recent publications establish methodologies for breath analysis standardization and validate electronic VOC sensors against gold-standard techniques. His research identifies metabolic signatures associated with lung function decline and infection progression.
