Ran Wang is a Dr NIHR Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester's Division of Immunology, Immunity to Infection and Respiratory Medicine. He holds an MBChB (2012) and MRes in Medical Research (2017) from the University of Manchester, with a BSc in Medical Sciences from the University of St Andrews (2009). His clinical and research focus lies in Respiratory Medicine, particularly asthma pathophysiology and diagnostic innovation. He completed a PhD (2023) exploring physiological variability in asthma management, supported by an NIHR Research for Patient Benefit Grant to investigate home-based diagnostic tools.
His research interests include applied clinical research, circadian biology, computational modeling, and lung physiology. Key contributions include studies on circadian rhythms' impact on asthma treatments and exhaled breath analysis for respiratory diseases. Awards include the NIHR Clinical Lectureship (2024) and NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship (2014–2017). He has held roles as a Respiratory Specialist Trainee (2014–2024) and remains active in the Respiratory Research Group.
Publications span clinical guidelines for asthma diagnosis, basophil activation mechanisms, and VOC biomarkers. Research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing health innovation and equitable care.
