Lizhe Wang is a Professor at the School of Computer Science, China University of Geosciences, since 2015. He was previously a Professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2011–2015) and is recognized as a "ChuTian" Chair Professor. He holds leadership roles in multiple institutions, including Director of the Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Intelligent Geo-Information Processing and Director of the Hubei Provincial Engineering Research Center for Smart Geological Environment Technology.
- Education: B.E. and M.E. in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University (1998, 2001), D.E. in Applied Informatics from University Karlsruhe, Germany (2008).
His research focuses on e-Science, Digital Earth, and Remote Sensing Image Processing, with emphasis on big Earth data and intelligent geo-information systems. His work bridges advanced computational methods with environmental and geological applications.
He has been honored as a Fellow of SPIE (2022), IEEE (2021), IET (2013), and BCS (2013). Additional accolades include the IEEE J-STARS Prize Paper Award (2020), IEEE Systems Journal Best Paper Awards (2017, 2018), and the IEEE TCSC Middle Career Award (2017). He is also a top 100 Computer Scientist in China (Guide2Research, 2019) and an Elsevier Highly-cited scholar (2021, 2022).
Wang has served as an Associate Editor for multiple IEEE journals, including IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics and IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Computing. He chairs China's National Committee of Digital Earth's "Big Earth Data" special committee and the China GNSS and LBS Association's "GNSS for Resource and Environment Application" committee.
