Jun Wang is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and School of Data Science at City University of Hong Kong, where he has served since 2016. He previously held academic positions at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2002-2016), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Changjiang Chair Professor, 2008-2011), University of North Dakota (1990-2001), and Case Western Reserve University (1986-1990). His research spans computational intelligence, systems and control, and neural networks, with over 250 journal papers and 15 book chapters.

Jun Wang has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious IEEE Norbert Wiener Award (2019), Wu Wenjun AI Achievement Award (2016), and IEEE Neural Networks Pioneer Award (2014). He is an IEEE Fellow, IAPR Fellow, and CAAI Fellow.
Jun Wang has held leadership roles in academia, serving as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics (2014-2019), Distinguished Lecturer for IEEE societies, and President of the Asia Pacific Neural Network Assembly (2006). He has organized international conferences, including the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (2008).
