Prof. Dr. Wanda Guedens is a Full Professor at Hasselt University's Faculty of Sciences, leading the Biomolecule Design Group (BDG) and serving as Vice Rector for Education. Her research focuses on designing protein-based biomaterials for advanced healthcare, including hydrogels, nanobodies, and biosensors. She holds a PhD in Chemistry (1999) and has supervised 8 PhD students in areas like cancer diagnostics and biomaterials.
Her work integrates biochemistry, materials science, and metabolomics, with notable contributions to early cancer detection via nanobodies and hydrogel-based drug delivery systems. She pioneered gamification tools like the GAPc project to enhance chemistry education and transition to higher education.
