Wan-Li Ho is a Senior Lecturer in Chinese at Emory University, part of the Department of Russian and East Asian Languages and Cultures. He retired in 2016 after 15 years of service. His academic journey includes a B.A. in Chinese Literature from Tunghai University (Taiwan), and M.A. and Ph.D. in Religion from Temple University. A dedicated educator, Ho taught all levels of Chinese language and interdisciplinary courses such as Women and Religion in China and Mind and Body in China.
His research focuses on Inter-Religious Dialogue, Environmental Ethics, Ecofeminism, and Taiwan Studies. His seminal work Ecofamilism (2016) explores environmental activism through a Taiwanese NGO lens, reinterpreted in his 2023 Chinese translation. He co-authored the Access China multimedia language series (2012) and The Tao of Jesus (1998), blending religious understanding with pedagogy.
Ho’s teaching excellence was recognized with the Winship Award (2008-2009) and ECLC Teaching Award (2014). He pioneered integrating environmental themes into language learning via the online project Environmental Chinese, linking ecological stewardship with linguistic skill development.
His research bridges religious studies and environmental advocacy, particularly through ecofeminist frameworks. He remains active in publishing and interfaith dialogue initiatives.
