Walter Reich is the Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Professor of International Affairs, Ethics and Human Behavior, and a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at George Washington University (GW). He holds a full-time faculty position and has been affiliated with the Elliott School of International Affairs for 25 years. His expertise spans Holocaust and genocide studies, terrorism, human rights, Middle East politics, and Soviet psychiatry. Reich has taught courses such as "Holocaust Memory: Past, Present & Future" and supervised independent research projects.
Reich earned an M.D. from New York University. His career includes leading the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum (1995–1998), co-chairing the Committee of Concerned Scientists, and exposing Soviet psychiatric abuse of dissenters in the 1970s. He has received prestigious awards for his advocacy in human rights and scientific responsibility.
Reich’s contributions to human rights, ethics, and international affairs have elevated the profile of GW and the Elliott School. His work bridges academia and policy, addressing complex global issues with ethical rigor.
