Walter Neupert was a renowned Professor and Chair of Physiological Chemistry at the University of Munich (1983–2010) and a Max Planck Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute of Biochemistry (since 2008). His research focused on mitochondrial biology, membrane proteins, and organelle biogenesis. He passed away on June 22, 2019.
