Dr. Wallace Boone serves as a Grant-Funded Researcher (A) at the University of Adelaide within the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, part of the School of Biological Sciences under the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. He is a geospatial scientist and archaeologist affiliated with the university's Spatial Science Group (SSG).
His research focuses on:
- Satellite remote sensing applications for archaeological site distribution
- Modeling past Aboriginal land use practices in Australian desert regions
- Bushfire impact mapping using satellite imagery
- Turbidity and seagrass change analysis along coastal Adelaide
Boone completed PhD research on satellite remote sensing applications for investigating Aboriginal land use in the Australian arid zone. He has worked as a full-time archaeological consultant since 2001, managing survey and excavation teams in Texas and Australia. His industry role as Senior Archaeologist with Scarp Archaeology Pty Ltd supports his position as Associate Investigator with the Australian Research Council Centre for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage (CABAH).
Notable projects include mapping 2020 Kangaroo Island bushfire impacts with Professor Megan Lewis and contributing to Professor Bronwyn Gillanders' marine environment impact study. His technical expertise spans rockshelter excavation, open site recording, and scientific research design.
