WaQar I. Ghani, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at Saint Joseph's University since 1999. He also serves as Visiting Teaching Faculty at The Vanguard Group (2003–Present) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS, 2002–2003). His professional career includes roles such as Management Consultant at The Sidney W. Fairchild Company (1985–1987) and Teaching Fellow/Research Assistant at Drexel University (1983–1990).
Dr. Ghani's research focuses on corporate governance, financial performance analysis, market reactions to regulatory changes, and international trade agreements. His work examines topics like EVA adoption effects, pharmaceutical industry compliance, and geopolitical impacts on investment strategies. He has contributed over 30 peer-reviewed articles across journals including Journal of Finance Issues, Global Journal of Business Research, and International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing.
He has received several awards including the Presidential Merit Award for Excellence in Teaching (2007) and an Obesity Research Grant from the CDC (2005). His instructional innovations include developing courses like 'Creating & Measuring Shareholder Value' and coordinating programs in Financial Statement Analysis. He actively reviews for journals and conferences, reflecting his contributions to academic rigor.
His research spans diverse areas such as NAFTA's impact on multinational firms, GATT's stock market effects, and the wealth implications of CFO turnover post-Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Current interests include geopolitical risks in asset pricing and the impact of China-Pakistan economic corridors on corporate equity.
