W. Richard McCombie

W. Richard McCombie is Professor and Davis Family Professor of Human Genetics at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. His research leverages revolutionary DNA sequencing technologies to assemble complex genomes and study neurological disorders, cancer progression, and plant genetics.

McCombie co-led international efforts to sequence maize, rice, and bread wheat genomes. His current projects include resequencing genes related to schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and investigating genetic factors in cancer using whole-genome sequencing. He was elected AAAS Fellow in 2011.
