Zihua Wang is a Research Assistant Professor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), leading the Wang Laboratory. He holds a Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (2008). His research focuses on developing and applying next-generation sequencing technologies for cancer studies, including early detection, prognosis, and minimal residual disease monitoring. Key areas include microsatellite length measurement, chromosomal instability analysis, and embryo genotyping via cell-free DNA sequencing. His work emphasizes translating technologies into clinically actionable tests, such as the MASQ platform for leukemia detection. Collaborations with clinical partners and the Wigler lab have advanced applications in cancer diagnostics and genetic disorder research.
Research interests include genomic instability, drug resistance mechanisms, and the role of de novo mutations in neurodevelopmental disorders like autism. He has co-developed methods such as SMASH for genomic copy number analysis and contributed to CRISPR-based drug target discovery. His interdisciplinary approach bridges molecular biology, bioinformatics, and clinical applications, with a focus on advancing precision medicine.
