Prof. W Hofman is a Professor in the Department of Teaching and Teacher Education at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences. His research focuses on educational psychology, higher education, intercultural education, and teacher competence. He has contributed over 150 publications, emphasizing topics like self-efficacy, academic performance, and international student experiences. Key areas include the role of intercultural group work in cognitive engagement, the impact of teacher self-efficacy on classroom dynamics, and the design of global teaching competencies in primary education.
Recent work explores PhD student success in Kenyan universities, the influence of cultural intelligence on intercultural collaboration, and the evaluation of teaching quality through classroom observations. Hofman has supervised 14 research projects, contributing to educational policy and institutional effectiveness across multiple countries. His interdisciplinary approach bridges pedagogical innovation with empirical research on student and teacher development.
