Vladimir Y. Toshchakov

Vladimir Y. Toshchakov is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His work focuses on molecular mechanisms of Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling and adapter protein recruitment.

• Education: BS in Biophysics from Pirogov Moscow Medical Institute (1983), PhD in Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury from the Institute for Transplantation and Artificial Organs (1990), and postdoctoral training in Innate Immunity at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (2002).

His research centers on transitory protein complexes in TLR signaling, particularly targeting TIR domains to develop inhibitors. Recent publications emphasize TLR4 dimerization, decoy peptides, and murine models of influenza.
