Vladimir Tkatjev is a Senior Associate Professor at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Mathematics (MAI) and the Division of Analysis and Mathematics Education (ANDI). He has a distinguished academic background, holding a Habilitation (Doktor fiz.-mat. nauk) from the Sobolev Institute of Mathematics (1998) and a Docent title from Linköping University (2014).
His research spans several interconnected areas of pure and applied mathematics. His primary interests include:
- Nonassociative Algebras: Investigating their structure, identities (e.g., the universality of 1/2 in the Peirce spectrum), and connections to other fields.
- Geometric Analysis: Focusing on minimal submanifolds, minimal cones, surfaces of prescribed mean curvature, and the regularity of solutions to nonlinear elliptic PDEs.
- Applied Mathematics: Developing and analyzing mathematical models for population dynamics and epidemiology, particularly SIR models with coinfection and density dependence.
- Potential Theory: Studying quadrature domains, harmonic moments, lemniscates, and the exponential transform.
His recent publications (2019-2024) reveal a strong trend of integrating algebraic methods (especially from nonassociative algebras) to solve problems in geometric analysis and PDEs, while maintaining an active parallel research line in mathematical biology. This demonstrates a unique interdisciplinary approach that bridges abstract algebra and concrete applications.
His scientific achievements have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including:
- Award of the President of the Russian Federation (2000)
- Honor Soros Docent (1997)
- Winner of the Alexander Vasiliev Award (2018)
- Gold medal from Volgograd State University (1985)
Vladimir Tkatjev has secured significant research funding as a supervisor for projects on quasilinear PDEs and minimal surfaces, and as a participant in international networks like ESF's HCAA and grants from Vetenskapsrådet and the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences. He is also a member of the editorial board for the Science Journal of VolSU. Mathematics. Physics.
He leads the 'Vladimir G. Tkachev's Lab' at Linköping University, focusing on the intersection of algebra, analysis, and their applications.
