Vivien Chang is a Research Fellow at the Dartmouth College Dickey Center for International Understanding. Her expertise spans US foreign policy, postcolonial Africa, Black internationalism, and global economic history.

Research Focus centers on transnational Black economic decolonization efforts during the Cold War, exemplified by her book project Creating the Third World: Anticolonial Diplomacy and the Search for a New International Economic Order, which analyzes unconventional paths to economic emancipation. She also co-edits a volume on Africa-China relations and contributes to the Cambridge History of African Political Thought.
