Vivian Riefberg

Vivian Riefberg is a Professor at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and a Faculty Senior Fellow at the Miller Center. Her work bridges leadership, health care innovation, and public sector consulting, informed by her extensive 31-year career at McKinsey & Company and her academic roles.

• Education: BA in History (magna cum laude) from Harvard-Radcliffe College and MBA (with distinction) from Harvard Business School.

Her research focuses on leadership in institutional crises and women's leadership in management, including initiatives to promote Darden as a graduate school of choice for women. She teaches courses such as "Solutions and Innovations in Health Care" and "Leading in Uncertainty and Crisis", emphasizing practical applications in health care and organizational behavior.

Vivian's article on "The Long-Term Impact of COVID-19 on Health Care" (2020) explores intersections of public health, economic policy, and leadership resilience during global crises. Her advisory and board roles span both corporate and nonprofit sectors, including positions at ONWARD, Waystar, K Health, and the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum.
