معرفی
Professor Vito Latora is a leading academic in Applied Mathematics and Complex Systems at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and holds a concurrent position as Professor of Physics at the University of Catania. He heads the Complex Systems and Networks Unit within QMUL’s School of Mathematical Sciences and is an External Faculty member of the Complexity Hub Vienna.
His research focuses on the structure and dynamics of complex systems, including multiplex networks, higher-order networks, and their applications to socio-economic systems and the human brain. Key areas of interest include network resilience, epidemic modeling, and the interplay between network topology and dynamical processes. Vito’s work has been supported by grants from EPSRC, the Leverhulme Trust, and the European Commission, notably as Scientific Director of the EU LASAGNE project (2012–2015).
He has authored over 200 publications, including seminal papers in Science, Nature journals, and Physical Review Letters, and co-authored the textbook Complex Networks: Principles, Methods and Applications (Cambridge University Press, 2017). Notable contributions include the study of memory effects in temporal networks and the analysis of higher-order interactions in social contagion.
In 2021, he was elected a Fellow of the Network Science Society. His teaching includes courses on complex networks and applied mathematics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
