معرفی
Vito Claudio Latora is a Full Professor of Theoretical Physics and Mathematical Models at the University of Catania and holds the Chair of Complex Systems at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), where he leads the Complex Systems and Networks Group. He is also an External Faculty member at the Vienna Complexity Hub.
Education:
- Degree in Physics, University of Catania (1992, 110/110 cum laude)
- PhD in Physics, University of Catania (1996)
Research Interests: A pioneer in complex networks, Latora's work spans theoretical physics, mathematical modeling, and interdisciplinary applications. His research includes dynamical processes on multiplex and time-varying networks, higher-order structures (simplicial complexes, hypergraphs), neural and social networks, spreading dynamics, evolutionary cooperation, and predicting success in creative ecosystems. He collaborates with neuroscientists and anthropologists to study creativity and innovation.
Scientific Awards:
- Fellow of the Turing Institute
Leadership Roles: Editor of the Journal of Complex Networks, member of the Executive Board of the Complex Systems Society (Italy), and former Scientific Director of the Complex Systems Lab at Catania School of Advanced Studies.
