Dr. Vitaliy Guzenko is a Staff Scientist at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), where he leads the Nanotechnology group within the Laboratory for Nano and Quantum Technologies. He obtained his PhD in Physics from RWTH Aachen University in 2002 and has been instrumental in developing high-resolution electron beam lithography techniques at PSI since 2008. His leadership extends to planning cleanroom infrastructure for advanced nanofabrication.
Guzenko's research centers on nanofabrication, X-ray optics, and beam diagnostics. He specializes in optimizing electron beam lithography for creating high-aspect-ratio nanostructures, enhancing X-ray optics efficiency, and pioneering gray-scale lithography for 3D functional surfaces. His work supports applications in accelerator physics, synchrotron imaging, and quantum technologies.
His publications emphasize innovations in electron beam manipulation (e.g., Boersch phase shifters), X-ray grating fabrication, and ultrafast material dynamics. Trends include nano-patterning precision, interdisciplinary optics-device integration, and diagnostics for particle accelerators like SwissFEL.
Guzenko oversees PSI's nanofabrication services for external researchers and industry, driving knowledge exchange in cleanroom technologies. He is also involved in strategic initiatives like the Park InnovAare cleanroom expansion.
