Virginia R. Chomitz is an Associate Professor in Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. She holds a Ph.D. (1992), M.S. (1985), and B.A. (1981) from Tufts University and Antioch University respectively. Her research focuses on community-based obesity prevention, policy-related physical activity interventions, and cross-cultural health disparities. Dr. Chomitz teaches NUTR 228: Community and Public Health Nutrition. She collaborates internationally on projects in Indonesia and has published extensively on topics like school-based physical activity promotion, wearable technology adoption in older adults, and vitamin D supplementation effects. Her work bridges clinical practice, policy, and community engagement to address systemic health challenges.
