Virginia Beckerman is a Senior Lecturer in Children and Young People's Nursing at Swansea University, affiliated with the Department of Nursing and the School of Health and Social Care. She transitioned to tertiary education in 2021 after 19 years in clinical roles across Australia and the UK, including positions such as Clinical Nurse Specialist in Accident and Emergency and Clinical Nursing Consultant for after-hours care. Her current role involves lecturing, mentoring pre-registration children's nurses, and facilitating simulation training.
Areas of expertise include Acute Pediatric Nursing, Human Factors Training, and Patient Safety. She teaches modules such as SHN3090: Care of the Child with Complex Needs and SHN3091: Advancing Child Nursing Practice, focusing on clinical decision-making, professional values, and organizational leadership. Since 2023, she has served as Simulation Champion for Children's Nursing at Swansea University.
Virginia has presented at international conferences, including a poster on simulation in pediatric care at Great Ormond Street Hospital (UK, 2023) and an evaluation of collaborative assessments at the Swansea Academy of Learning and Teaching (2022).
