Vinzenz Hediger

Prof. Dr. Vinzenz Hediger serves as Professor of Film Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt's Institute for Theatre, Film and Media Studies (Department 10 - Modern Philologies). He has held the position of Managing Director of the Institute since winter semester 2019/20 and concurrently serves as Director of the Cornelia Goethe Center for Women's Studies and Gender Relations (CGC). His institutional affiliations also include membership in the Cluster of Excellence 'The Formation of Normative Orders'.

Professor Hediger's research spans multiple dimensions of cinematic expression with particular emphasis on the intersections of fashion, bodies, and filmic representation. His scholarly work engages deeply with German cinema traditions, notably through his specialized seminar on Rainer Werner Fassbinder. His leadership at the CGC demonstrates significant commitment to gender studies within media contexts, while his 'Sartorial Cinema' course reveals innovative approaches to examining fashion as both aesthetic element and cultural signifier in film. His research interests bridge historical film analysis with contemporary theoretical frameworks in cultural studies.

For winter semester 2025/26, Professor Hediger will teach the Vinzenz Hediger Colloquium, a Research Seminar on Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and 'Sartorial Cinema: Fashion, Bodies, Film,' demonstrating his active engagement in advanced scholarly discourse and pedagogy.
