Vinod Vasudevan

Dr. Vinod Vasudevan is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), specializing in transportation systems. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S.E. in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), and a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from Calicut University, India.

Prior to UAA, he served as a faculty member at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) and held research roles at UNLV's Transportation Research Center. His research focuses on traffic safety, connected vehicles, naturalistic driving studies, and transportation economics. He has led over 20 research projects totaling $2 million and published over 60 peer-reviewed articles.

Dr. Vasudevan has advised over 25 graduate students and teaches 18 courses, including 9 undergraduate modules. His active projects include evaluating pedestrian safety technologies and improving STEM education equity. He serves on TRB technical committees and was President of ITE Nevada Chapter (2009).

His work spans LiDAR-based traffic analysis, highway financing, and infrastructure policy, with a strong emphasis on applying data-driven solutions to real-world challenges in transportation systems.
