Vincenzo Liso is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University, affiliated with AAU Energy and the Department of Thermal Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Science. He holds a PhD in fuel cell systems and an MSc in Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on advancing sustainable energy technologies, particularly in fuel cell systems, hydrogen production, carbon capture, and renewable energy integration. He leads and supervises numerous PhD projects addressing challenges in electro-fuels, green ammonia, and cryogenic CO2 capture technologies.
Key research interests include Proton-Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC), Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC), and high-temperature PEM electrolyzers. His work contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing affordable and clean energy (SDG 7) and climate action (SDG 13). He collaborates on projects such as the ‘Degradation Modeling of Electrolyzers’ and ‘Green Methanol from Biogas’, demonstrating expertise in both fundamental science and applied engineering solutions.
Notable contributions include innovations in fault detection for HT-PEMFCs using AI, cryogenic CO2 capture for cement plants, and optimizing microgrid energy management systems. His research bridges academia and industry, with practical applications in hydrogen storage, ammonia synthesis, and decarbonization strategies. He is actively involved in interdisciplinary collaborations, including the HyFC Academy, and has published extensively in top journals like Applied Energy and International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.
