Vincent Jouane

Vincent Jouane is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Washington University. He serves as Director of the Summer Language Institute in France (SLIF) and Chair of the RLL DEI Committee. His expertise spans 20th-century French literature, Francophone studies, and French cinema, with a focus on postcolonial memory and the legacy of the Algerian War through literary analysis.

Education: PhD from Washington University, Master’s in English Literature from Toulouse/Le Mirail University (France). Teaching includes advanced French courses such as Medical French and Sports and Society. Research centers on autobiographical works by children of harkis (Algerian pro-French civilians during the Algerian War), as explored in his dissertation La Littérature des Enfants de Harkis: Mémoire et Réconciliation.
