Vincent Gremeaux is an Associate Professor at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), Faculty of Biology and Medicine, and Chief Physician at the Department of the Locomotor System at CHUV. He also directs the Center for Sports Medicine at CHUV and is affiliated with the Institute of Sports Sciences (ISSUL), which is jointly supported by the Faculty of Biology and Medicine and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. His work bridges clinical practice, research, and education in sports and exercise medicine.

Vincent Gremeaux specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation, with a strong emphasis on leveraging physical activity for therapeutic purposes. His expertise spans traumatology, orthopedic diseases, sports physiology, nutrition, therapeutic exercise education, and medical assessment of athletes. He is passionate about optimizing health outcomes through structured physical activity, particularly for patients with chronic illnesses.
His research program is translational and interdisciplinary, focusing on key areas such as muscle strength assessment using isokinetic equipment, eccentric muscle training in cardiovascular rehabilitation, exercise therapy after stroke, e-coaching based on sweat analysis, and the interaction between physical and cognitive fatigue. He is actively involved in a national working group developing a framework for integrating exercise medicine competencies into medical training. His strategic position in Lausanne allows him to strengthen collaborations with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and various sports federations, enhancing both clinical services and research impact.
Vincent Gremeaux has developed and expanded Lausanne’s offerings in sports and exercise medicine, particularly through innovative therapeutic physical activity programs. His leadership at the CHUV Sports Medicine Center—recognized as a 'Swiss Olympic Medical Center'—supports both elite and recreational athletes, while extending care to individuals returning to activity for health reasons.
He earned his MD from the University of Montpellier in 2004, followed by postgraduate diplomas in physical medicine and rehabilitation and in sports medicine. He completed his PhD in 2011 at the University of Burgundy with a thesis titled 'Walking: a standardized tool for assessing capacity in cardiovascular diseases?' and received accreditation to direct research on 'Movement therapy in chronic pathologies.' His clinical and academic career includes leadership roles at Montpellier and Dijon University Hospitals before joining UNIL in 2017.
