Vilmos Kocsis

Dr. Vilmos Kocsis is a research scientist at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW-Dresden), Germany. His current and past positions include:

• Group Leader, Thermal Transport Group (2022–present)
• Postdoctoral Researcher, Alexander von Humboldt fellow, Transport and Scanning Probe Microscopy Research Team (2020–2022)
• Postdoctoral Researcher, Magnetic Properties Research Team (2019–2020)
• Postdoctoral Researcher, Strong Correlation Materials Research Group, RIKEN, Japan (2016–2019)

His research centers on experimental condensed matter physics with focus on multiferroic materials. Key interests include room temperature magnetoelectric multiferroics, magnetoelectric coupling phenomena, optical magnetoelectric effects, advanced optical spectroscopy techniques, and thermal transport mechanisms in quantum materials. His work bridges fundamental physics with potential applications in spintronics and energy-efficient devices.

Dr. Kocsis has been awarded the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt fellowship. He is scheduled to teach "Group Theory and its Applications in Condensed Matter Physics" in 2025, covering symmetry principles in solid-state systems.

As leader of the Thermal Transport Group, he directs experimental investigations into heat conduction phenomena in multiferroic compounds, utilizing specialized measurement setups for magnetoelectric and thermal property characterization under extreme conditions.
