Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Researchمعرفی
Dr. Alexander Fedorov serves as a Group Leader in the Department of Synchrotron Methods at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden) since 2017. His research focuses on electronic and optical properties of graphene/TMDC heterostructures, unconventional superconductors, and correlated electron materials using advanced synchrotron-based techniques.
His educational background includes:
- Master's degree from St. Petersburg State University (2010-2012) with thesis on "Electronic properties of graphene and hexagonal boron nitride monolayer," utilizing photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, and AFM metallography.
- PhD from IFW Dresden (2012-2014) on "Electronic properties and superconductivity of doped graphene," featuring development of laser-based pump-probe ARPES instrumentation.
- Postdoctoral research at University of Cologne's II. Physikalisches Institut (2014-2017) designing UHV Raman systems for doped graphene and nanoribbon studies.
Dr. Fedorov specializes in integrating materials synthesis with cutting-edge characterization methodologies, operating chalcogen MBE systems at both IFW Dresden and BESSY II synchrotron facility in Berlin. His expertise spans ultra-high vacuum instrumentation design, beamline maintenance (UE112 PGM-2 at BESSY II), and multi-technique approaches to quantum material analysis. Current research emphasizes in-situ growth and real-time electronic structure mapping of 2D heterostructures.
As group leader, he directs experimental programs bridging fundamental condensed matter physics with advanced instrumentation development for synchrotron radiation applications, maintaining active collaborations with international facilities for quantum materials research.
