Viktoria Verhelst is a doctoral researcher affiliated with the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at KU Leuven and the Heritage Studies department at the University of Antwerp. Her work focuses on redefining assessment and validation mechanisms for crafts knowledge to enhance its societal and economic value in Flanders, within the SBO project Crafting Futures. Supervised by Prof. Noel Salazar and Prof. Marc Jacobs, her research bridges anthropology, heritage studies, and maker pedagogy.
- Education: MA in Archaeology (Free University of Brussels, 2021); MSc in Heritage Studies (University of Antwerp, 2023).
Research Interests: Viktoria's research examines the intersection of crafts knowledge, higher education, and socio-economic innovation. She explores how traditional maker practices can be validated through interdisciplinary frameworks in anthropology and heritage studies.
Projects: Currently engaged in the Crafting Futures initiative, which aims to transform crafts evaluation systems.
