Victoria Sturtevant is a Professor at the University of Oklahoma, affiliated with the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences and the Film and Media Studies Department. She holds a Ph.D. from Emory University and serves as an affiliated member of the Women's and Gender Studies faculty.
Research Interests: Specializing in race, class, and gender intersections in American film, her work spans film history, theory, and criticism. Courses include Writing About Film and Media, Gender and Media, and Cinemas of Childhood.
Recent Publications: Her scholarship focuses on gender representation in comedy, ethnic masquerade in early cinema, and feminist readings of landmark films like Thelma & Louise. Her forthcoming 2024 monograph examines pregnancy narratives in comedic media.
