Victoria Pease is a Professor of Tectonics and Magmatism at Stockholm University's Department of Geological Sciences within the Faculty of Science. Her research focuses on understanding Earth's dynamic processes through integrated geological, geochemical and geophysical methods as part of the IGV's Geology group. She maintains an active research profile with numerous publications spanning tectonics, magmatism, and crustal evolution across multiple continents.
Professor Pease's research interests center on tectonics and magmatism, with particular expertise in geochronology, crustal evolution, Arctic geology, and Precambrian studies. Her work frequently employs zircon U-Pb dating techniques and isotope geochemistry to investigate geological processes across diverse regions including the Arabian Shield, Arctic regions (Alaska, Russia, Scandinavia), North China, Greenland, Egypt, and Jordan. Her research has significantly contributed to our understanding of Neoproterozoic orogeny and crustal reworking processes.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on using detrital zircon studies to understand crustal growth and evolution across different geological time periods. Her work spans from the Precambrian through the Mesozoic, with particular attention to the Neoproterozoic era. Her research integrates multiple analytical techniques including U-Pb dating, oxygen isotope analysis, Hf isotopic studies, and geochemical characterization to build comprehensive models of geological evolution.
