Dr. Victoria Hall serves as Research Fellow in Medical Anthropology at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), specializing in socio-cultural dimensions of health and disease. Her work centers on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and Mycetoma within vulnerable populations including refugees and displaced communities.
Her academic credentials include:
- BA in Social and Cultural Anthropology (University of Cambridge)
- MSc in Social and Cultural Anthropology with Medical Anthropology specialization (University of Oxford)
- MSc in Global Health (BSMS)
- PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology (University of Cambridge)
Dr. Hall's research examines embodiment-personhood interfaces in disease contexts through anthropological lenses. She investigates how diverse epistemologies and ethical frameworks shape health perceptions among migrant populations, with particular attention to Mycetoma's socio-cultural dimensions. Her methodology incorporates expressive forms to analyze multiple disease ontologies and improve healthcare intervention planning for marginalized communities. Current work extends her Himalayan PhD fieldwork on religious pluralism and care ethics into NTD contexts, focusing on socio-political barriers in disease management.
