Victoria Emma Pagán is a Professor of Classics at the University of Florida, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds roles as Chair of the Department of Classics (2010-2015), Co-Chair of the Women’s Classical Caucus, Founding Member of the Mountaintop Coalition, and President of the Classical Association of the Middle West and South. Her research focuses on Roman Historiography, Tacitus, post-Augustan literature, gardens in literature, and conspiracy theory. She has authored and edited numerous books, including Tacitus (2017), Conspiracy Theory in Latin Literature (2012), and the two-volume The Tacitus Encyclopedia (2023). Pagán has received prestigious awards such as the 2024-2025 University of Florida Teacher/Scholar of the Year and the SEC Academic Consortium Faculty Achievement Award. Her work bridges classical scholarship with modern interdisciplinary studies, including environmental humanities and women’s collaborative art in gardens. Pagán has advised over 20 PhD and MA students, leading seminars on Tacitus, Juvenal, Sallust, and conspiracy theory. She actively participates in international collaborations, such as organizing the Reinventing Tacitus conference in Innsbruck, and engages in public-facing scholarship addressing conspiracy theories and classical reception.

Research Interests: Roman historiography (especially Tacitus), post-Augustan literature, gardens in antiquity, conspiracy theories, and interdisciplinary studies of classical culture. Her work explores textual analysis, political rhetoric, and the reception of classical ideas in modern contexts.
