معرفی
Victor R. DeFilippis is an Associate Professor at the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute within Oregon Health & Science University's School of Medicine. With expertise spanning viral immunology and innate immune signaling pathways, his research bridges fundamental molecular mechanisms with translational applications for emerging viral threats.
Dr. DeFilippis' research program focuses on the molecular biology of innate immune signaling, particularly the cGAS-STING pathway, which detects cytosolic DNA and triggers inflammatory responses and adaptive immunity. His laboratory employs advanced cellular and molecular techniques including CRISPR/Cas genome editing, functional genomics, and high-throughput screening to investigate both basic mechanisms and translational applications.
His work spans three primary research thrusts: discovery of novel STING pathway activators for vaccine adjuvants and cancer immunotherapies; development of adaptable vaccine platforms against emerging viruses like Chikungunya and Zika; and investigation of host-pathogen interactions, particularly how viruses evade immune detection. Recent publications demonstrate his leadership in characterizing novel STING agonists, developing next-generation vaccines, and uncovering viral immune evasion mechanisms.
Dr. DeFilippis' work has significant implications for antiviral therapeutics, vaccine development against emerging pathogens, and cancer immunotherapies. His research program exemplifies the integration of basic science with translational applications to address pressing public health challenges posed by emerging viral diseases.
