Søren Riis Paludan

Søren Riis Paludan is a Professor in the Department of Biomedicine at Aarhus University's Faculty of Health. His research focuses on innate immunity, viral infections, and immune system regulation, with particular expertise in interferon signaling and herpesviruses. His laboratory investigates how the immune system detects and responds to viral pathogens at the molecular level.

Professor Paludan's research interests center on innate immunity against viral infections, particularly examining how cells recognize viruses through pattern recognition receptors and initiate interferon responses. His work spans multiple areas including herpesvirus pathogenesis, STING signaling pathway, innate immune regulation, and development of novel vaccine strategies. He employs advanced techniques such as single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics to understand cellular heterogeneity during infection.

Analysis of his recent publications (2024-2025) reveals a strong focus on viral immunology and innate immune mechanisms, with significant contributions to understanding herpes simplex virus CNS infection, STING pathway regulation, and novel vaccine adjuvant development.
