Victor Lecomte is a Lecturer and researcher at Nantes University's Faculty of Sociology, affiliated with the Nantes Center for Sociology (CENS). His academic career includes an ATER position (2025-2026), temporary work (2024-2025), and doctoral studies (2021-2024) co-financed by the French Institute of Horses and Riding and the Pays de la Loire region. He teaches undergraduate sociology courses spanning research methods, economic sociology, rural sociology, and sports sociology.
Lecomte's research centers on rural sociology, agricultural sociology, and economic sociology, with a focus on heterogeneous social groups and biographical trajectories. His doctoral thesis investigates horse breeders as a complex social group navigating economic uncertainties within the equine industry. His methodological approach combines quantitative surveys with in-depth qualitative interviews to map social spaces and professional trajectories.
His publication record shows consistent scholarly output since 2022, with multiple conference presentations at major sociological associations including the French Sociological Association (AFS) and the International Association of French-Speaking Sociologists (AISLF). His work examines both rural intercommunal governance transformations and the sociology of equine-related economic activities, revealing connections between institutional change, work organization, and economic practices in contemporary French society.
Lecomte actively participates in academic service through co-organizing study days, doctoral conferences, and seminars. He serves on the CENS laboratory council since September 2024 and was previously a member of Nantes University's academic council (2022-2023). His research contributes to understanding how economic logics and social classifications operate in specialized domains like equine breeding and rural public administration.
