Joseph Godefroy is a Lecturer at the University of Nantes' School of Sports Science and Researcher at the Nantes Center for Sociology (CENS UMR CNRS 6025). His dual appointment bridges sports science and sociological research within France's national academic framework.
His research spans four interconnected domains:
- Digital labor markets through Instagram influencer ecosystems
- Sociology of aging in competitive sports contexts
- Multidisciplinary cultural transmission studies combining sociology and cognitive neuroscience
- Event sociology focusing on volunteer management systems
His doctoral work revealed how leisure-based social media activity transitions into professional work through corporate solicitation, identifying emergent socio-professional categories shaped by family contexts. Current projects include analyzing seniors' engagement in high-intensity athletics despite institutional barriers, developing neuro-sociological protocols for studying social reproduction, and researching Paris 2024 Olympic volunteer coordination systems.
