Professor Victor Gekara is a distinguished academic in the Department of Supply Chain and Logistics Management at RMIT University's College of Business and Law in Melbourne, Australia. He has held the position of Professor since January 2020, following progressive academic appointments as Associate Professor (2016-2019), Senior Lecturer (2013-2015), and Lecturer (2009-2012). Prior to joining RMIT, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Cardiff University's School of Social Sciences.
Professor Gekara earned his Ph.D. in International Political Economy from Cardiff School of Social Sciences under the prestigious Nippon Foundation PhD Fellowship. His doctoral research examined tensions between nation state policies on labor and capital under neoliberalism, with specific focus on how governments regulate labor development against multinational capital interests in global shipping.
His research spans the strategic intersection of Sociology of work, Political Economy, and Management:

- Future of work and industrial transformations
- Digital transformations and workforce skills development
- Vocational Education and Training systems
- Employment equity and diversity in male-dominated industries
Professor Gekara's recent scholarly work demonstrates a strong focus on understanding the technology-mediated future of work, particularly examining changing nature of transport and logistics work, evolving workforce skills needs, and job quality considerations. His research employs diverse methodologies to address critical issues in workforce adaptation to technological changes, including digital skills beyond IT workforce, gender inequality in logistics, and forecasting methodologies for container freight rates.
He has developed and led important research structures including:

- Skills, Training and Industry Research Network
Professor Gekara has supervised numerous PhD and Master's students to completion and developed and managed several postgraduate programs including the Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management. His teaching includes International Logistics, Strategic Procurement, Supply Chain Technologies, and Business Ethics.
