Victor Cheuy, PhD is an Associate Professor at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. He holds a PhD in Movement Science from Washington University in St. Louis and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Colorado. His clinical and research interests focus on diabetes, chronic kidney disease (CKD), osteoarthritis, lower extremity biomechanics, and biomedical imaging. His work explores the interplay between chronic diseases and musculoskeletal function, particularly in aging populations and post-surgical rehabilitation contexts.
Key research areas include:
- Biomechanical adaptations in diabetic neuropathic feet
- Postoperative recovery trajectories after total joint arthroplasty
- Telehealth interventions for postpartum urinary incontinence
- Health disparities in physical therapy access for patients with comorbid diabetes/CKD
Recent studies emphasize innovation in rehabilitation technologies (biofeedback training, functional strength integration techniques) and interdisciplinary approaches to pelvic/orthopedic care. His work integrates engineering principles with clinical practice to improve mobility outcomes for patients with complex conditions.
Leveraging electronic health records and geographical information systems, his team analyzes disparities in healthcare utilization patterns. Current efforts focus on developing scalable interventions to optimize physical function recovery and reduce musculoskeletal complications in high-risk populations.
