Vicky Hosegood

Professor Vicky Hosegood is a Professor of Demography and Family Health at the University of Southampton's Department of Social Statistics and Demography. She serves as Director of the Postgraduate Research programme in her department. Her research focuses on family demography and health in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly South Africa, with expertise in longitudinal household studies and population-based health research in low/middle-income countries. Key areas include HIV/AIDS impact analysis, family care systems, men's health, migration patterns, and health-mortality trends.

Her work emphasizes improving demographic data measurement and informing family-based intervention designs. She collaborates with research groups like the ESRC-funded Centre for Population Change and contributes to studies on HIV treatment impacts in rural African communities.
