Dr. Liliana Andriano is a Lecturer in Social Demography and Global Health at the University of Southampton's Department of Social Statistics and Demography. She holds an associate membership at Nuffield College, University of Oxford. Her research focuses on climate change, conflict, and environmental processes' impacts on health and demographics in sub-Saharan Africa, including child health, family formation, and female education's role in climate adaptation. A current project funded by the British Academy and Leverhulme Trust examines conflict's demographic consequences.
Education: Bocconi University (Economics), PhD in Sociology from the University of Oxford. Prior roles include postdoctoral positions at Nuffield College and the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science.
Teaching includes undergraduate and postgraduate modules, with supervision interests in conflict, climate change, and spatial methods. She currently supervises PhD student Ida Brzezinska.
Key research areas include child mortality, gender dynamics, and climate-driven health outcomes. Her work spans interdisciplinary approaches to global health challenges and policy-relevant demographic analyses.
