Professor Vicki Bitsika is a Professor in Biomedical Science and Disability at the University of New England's School of Science and Technology. She holds qualifications including BBsc (Hons), MPsych, PhD, and postgraduate diplomas in Clinical Psychology. Her research focuses on neurodevelopmental disabilities, mental health, and clinical interventions, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), anxiety, depression, and functional behavior analysis. She previously founded and directed Bond University's Centre for Autism Spectrum Disorder (2010–2019).
Her work integrates clinical practice with academic research, emphasizing neurophysiological and psychological mechanisms underlying behavioral challenges. Awards include an Australian Learning and Teaching Council citation (2009) and a Churchill Fellowship (2010), alongside a 2016 AM for contributions to autism education and disability support.
Research interests span EEG connectivity in autism, depression subtypes, and mental health among marginalized groups like prostate cancer patients and homeless populations. She has published widely on sensory features in ASD, stress biomarkers, and resilience interventions in clinical populations.
