Roles & Affiliations: Associate Professor in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Minnesota's College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). Serves as Book review editor for the Journal of Southeast Asian American Education & Advancement. Active member of AESA, AERA, and the Coalition for Increasing Teachers of Color and American Indian Teachers.

Education: PhD in Culture and Teaching from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Research Focus: Explores experiences of immigrant youth and students of color, particularly Cambodian-Americans. Key themes include ethnic identity development, school belonging, immigration policy impacts, and dismantling educational inequities. Current projects examine how families navigate U.S. immigration systems and educational structures. Methodologically grounded in qualitative approaches including ethnography and narrative analysis.

Publications & Impact: Authored/co-authored influential books like Cambodian American Youth, Identity, and Schooling and Research and Reflections on Southeast Asian American Education and Advancement. Over 20 peer-reviewed articles address topics ranging from special education disparities to community organizing around deportation issues. Recent work analyzes the ReleaseMN8 campaign's advocacy efforts.
