Assoc. Prof. Vesna Očić, PhD, serves as Associate Professor in the Division for Agroeconomy and Informatics at the Department of Management and Rural Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb. Employed since 2003, she advanced from Junior Research Assistant (2003-2012) to Senior Research Assistant (2012-2016) before achieving Associate Professor (docent) status in 2016.
Education:
- Doctoral thesis (2004-2012): "The impact of feeding line on dairy cattle production revenue", Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb
- Graduate thesis (1996-2002): "Drying apples Gloster varieties cut into cubes and sticks", Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb
Research Interests: Her work centers on Agricultural Economics with specialization in Cost Management and Farm Management. She analyzes Croatia's Farm Accountancy Data Network, develops methodologies for fruit-growing and wine production economics, and investigates EU subsidy impacts on agricultural income. Her research bridges theoretical economics with practical agribusiness applications in Mediterranean contexts.
Publication Trends: Recent works (2016-2019) demonstrate interdisciplinary integration across agricultural engineering, horticulture, and policy analysis. Key themes include mechanization efficiency in specialty crops, traditional variety preservation, subsidy economics, and nutritional quality assessment - reflecting Croatia's agricultural priorities within EU frameworks.
Professional Activities: She coordinates World Bank and Horizon 2020 projects while serving on Ministry of Agriculture committees including the National FADN Committee (2016-2021) and Evaluation Committee for LEADER strategies.
