Vesall Nourani is an Assistant Professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). Previously, he served as Director and Lead Researcher at the Development Innovations Lab and Senior Research Associate in the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at the University of Chicago. From 2021 to 2024, he was based in Uganda, where he also lectured at Makerere University’s School of Economics. His research focuses on knowledge, learning, and economic activity in sub-Saharan Africa.
Education:
- Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics, Cornell University
- B.A. in Economics and Political Science, University of North Carolina
Research Interests: Combines education and economics to explore how knowledge and learning shape economic outcomes. Key areas include global education systems, informal learning, ethical education, and policy interventions in developing regions. His work emphasizes evidence-based approaches to address educational inequities.
Labs/Teams: Previously led the Development Innovations Lab at the University of Chicago, focusing on applied research in economic development.
