Veronique Le Ru is a Professor at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, leading the Department of Philosophy since 2011 and directing the Master of Philosophy program from 2018–2024. She oversees Distance Learning in Philosophy, spanning all levels from undergraduate to doctoral studies. She chairs the online journal Savoirs en Prisme and serves on the French National Council of Universities (CNU).
Her education includes a degree from the École Normale Supérieure de Saint-Cloud (1983–1987), agrégée in philosophy (1986), a PhD on D'Alembert Philosophe (1990), and an HDR on Cartesian mechanisms (2001). Her research focuses on Enlightenment philosophy, science philosophy, and individuality in modern thought.
Her recent publications explore topics like shared environments, Émilie du Châtelet’s philosophy, and skepticism in the Enlightenment. She has supervised four doctoral students, including Thomas Foerhlé, whose thesis won the L'Harmattan prize (2022). She actively participates in international conferences and co-edits numerous volumes on philosophy, literature, and ethics.
Her awards include academic prizes for her doctoral work and supervision accolades. She leads interdisciplinary initiatives like the Penser les milieux vivants en commun project and collaborates on ethical committees such as EREGE at Reims University Hospital.
