Veronica Malm is a Senior Lecturer in Textile Technology at the University of Borås, Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business. She works within the Department of Textile Technology with a specific focus on dyeing and processing as well as functional textiles. Her office is located in room S459 and she can be reached at veronica.malm@hb.se or by phone at 033-435 4560.
Dr. Malm's research focuses on resource-efficient processes for the development of functional and smart textile materials. Her work particularly emphasizes conductive textile coatings with metal flake-shaped fillers, textile dyeing using supercritical carbon dioxide, and color-changing textile effects using multi-layered mica pigments. She investigates how formulation additives like rheology modifiers and cross-linkers, along with knife coating parameters such as gap height and speed, influence the properties of textile coatings.
Her publication record demonstrates a strong trajectory in functional textile research, with particular emphasis on the electrical and mechanical properties of conductive textile coatings. Analysis of her work shows consistent investigation into the trade-offs between functional performance (such as electrical conductivity or color-changing effects) and mechanical properties (like flexural stiffness), especially in relation to durability under conditions like laundering and abrasion.
Dr. Malm completed her doctoral thesis titled 'Functional Textile Coatings Containing Flake-shaped Fillers: investigations on selected optical and electrical properties' in 2018, establishing her expertise in this specialized area of textile technology.
