Veronica Flores is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Furman University. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Psychology/Neuroscience from Brandeis University and a B.S. from UC San Diego.
Her research examines how incidental taste experiences influence learning and decision-making using rodent models. She investigates neurobiological mechanisms of taste processing in primary taste cortex and their impact on associative learning, employing electrophysiology and behavioral assays.
Publications focus on taste processing mechanisms and learning adaptations. Her 2018-2022 work demonstrates consistent investigation into cortical processing of taste experiences.
Awards:
- Alester G. Furman, Jr. and Janie Earle Furman Award for Meritorious Advising (2024)
She mentors undergraduate researchers and teaches Learning, Introduction to Psychology, and Sensation and Perception courses.
